His former username, TheCampingTree, comes from a 1st person shooter video game he enjoyed playing, Counter-Strike. The game had a feature that allowed players to turn into objects to disguise themselves and he liked turning into a tree.
One day, he tried to register on something with his username but it was already taken. He then saw a spoon nearby and decided to use the word as a new username.
Sp00nerism cannot remember whether the 1st video game he had ever played was Super Mario World or Mega Man X.
The 1st shooter game he ever played was Duke Nukem.
The 1st video he uploaded to YouTube was the gameplay of Saints Row 2.
He grew up playing Tony Hawk‘s Pro Skater video games.
He used to be a member of The Creatures, a group of content creators who had a joint YouTube channel, TheCreatureHub.
In the past, he teased his fanbase with “face reveal” videos where he showed himself but wore a horse mask. The Creatures, during their streams, had a milestone of $1 million in donations that, if reached, would force Sp00nerism to show his face.
Before he appeared at the Rooster Teeth Convention in July 2013, no one knew what he looked like, except his family, close friends, and girlfriend. Before that event, his fanbase didn’t even know his real name was Nick.
Sp00nerism moved from Utah to Colorado so he could live closer to his fellow The Creatures members. However, he soon realized Colorado apartment was too expensive for him and moved back to Utah in April 2014. The group disbanded in 2017.
He has a pet cat.
